  • 4 pears (Anjou or Bartlett, ripe but still firm)
  • juice of one lemon
  • 1/2 cup apple cider (or apple juice)
  • 3 tablespoons port wine
  • 1 tablespoon pear , liquor such as poire williams
  • 1/3 cup light brown sugar
